To do so, you just select the portion of your timeline that you want to preview and press Shift+B. I usually recommend set it to 1/3 of your total ram and in your case you'll be able to preview a big amount of time. The Dynamic RAM preview (Options -> Preferences -> Video) allows you to set a portion of your timeline into your ram and then you're able to preview it lag free, no matter what. Without it, I'm able to preview most of the things (I can preview 4k with simple effects and my specs don't come close to yours) and in the case I throw some heavier effects and it lags, I still can use the dynamic ram preview to see it lag free. So you can disable either one of them, but my preference goes to the GPU acceleration. I have no clue why, but when you have some amount of dynamic ram set and GPU acceleration is on, you will have lag. One of the Vegas problems seems to come a long way from older versions where there's a relation between the Dynamic RAM preview and GPU acceleration. There is a lot you can do to deal with the lag preview on Vegas. This has been said a bunch, so I will just copy paste my previous comment from another topic: Any help is very appreciated.Īnd I would think is powerful enough to be able to handle the preview window at the lowest settings.ĭepending on the codec being used and the complexity of the timeline, it isn't.

I understand that Vegas 18 is still new, but I'm very frustrated I'm having this much difficulty when it used to work without problems on my older software and computer, and I would hate if my only option would be to selectively render every time I wanted to make sure something was lined up properly.Īlso, a few of the tips I found didn't seem to be available in Vegas 18, so I'm wondering if some options got shuffled around, and I just can't seem to find it. I've tried several different solutions from adjusting the preview quality, to diving into preferences and adjusting several settings to no avail. I've used Vegas 14 in the past, and the preview window there worked perfectly with my old pc. My computer is brand new, and I would think is powerful enough to be able to handle the preview window at the lowest settings. It's lagging very badly, and despite my best attempts and scouring the web trying anything and everything I can find, it still persists.
